Hi! My name is Zhenya, I’m 35, I’m from Ukraine, and right now I live in Santiago de Compostela. I want to do something for the Camino de Santiago — to add my own contribution.
I built this app through the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme. I’m genuinely glad they extend it to Ukrainian citizens as well — that’s how I got the chance to take part.
That programme is also how I was lucky enough to meet the wonderful Sabela Gippini Ruiz and her husband Vicente Alonso — the founders of Galiwonders, and simply remarkable people. I want to thank them separately for the attention they showed me and for the care they put into their work and into their relationships with others.
Thanks and greetings to the whole Galiwonders team, too — these kind, endlessly positive people lifted my mood every time I saw them. This app is the result of that collaboration.
- Simplicity. A clear, uncluttered interface is the foundation of everything here.
- Community. I want to make it easy to stay in touch with the people you meet along the way.
- History. I love history, and I want to tell the story of these routes — it isn’t one single Camino, and each one has a character of its own.
We’re in beta
The app is in beta testing right now. I’m the only developer, and the whole project rests on me — so I need your help! It’s very simple help, though: just use the app and send feedback, or report anything that breaks. You are my best testers, and it’s your feedback that lets me fix and improve things. Thank you for that.
What I’m working on now
- Stories and legends for more stages of the route
- Offline maps, so the app works where there’s no signal
- Groups — staying in touch with the people you walk with
- More routes beyond the Camino Francés
- Better albergue and point-of-interest data
About the money
I’m doing my best to share this app for free, as it is.
Even so, your support would mean a great deal — and it’s genuinely needed. There’s a server to keep running, Mapbox maps to pay for, plus food, water and the other infrastructure behind the project.
So here’s an easy way to chip in ❤️
Get in touch
I’ll update this section now and then to share what’s happening in my life and in the life of Ultreia — I’d like to stay in touch! Write to me at my personal address, especially if you’d like a magic amulet that grants one wish. Yes, really — making amulets, pendants you wear around your neck, is another little hobby of mine.
